1923 Born in Ashikaga District, Tochigi Prefecture
1949 Graduated from the Faculty of Letters, Keio University
1953 Graduated from the Department of Oil Painting, Tokyo University of the Arts
1956 Studied in Rome; first learned sculpture in the atelier of Fazzini
1957 Moved to Vienna; after studying printmaking and creating a series of nude paintings, fully shifted to sculpture and was based in Vienna and Berlin
1963 Invited to participate in the "Symposium of European Sculptors" (Symposion europäischer Bildhauer) hosted by the City of Berlin; created a stone sculpture in the square in front of the Reichstag building in Berlin
1966 Received a fellowship as an "Artist-in-Residence" from the German Academy
1967 Returned to Japan after spending time in Canada and the United States
2006 Passed away due to heart failure in Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture, while traveling; aged 82
