Greetings from the Representative Director
Message
The Harmonic Ito Foundation was established with the purpose of supporting research and artistic activities in universities and research institutions within the field of arts and sciences. From a cultural perspective, we aim to provide support not only in the field of science and technology but also in the realm of culture and the arts—in other words, create values beyond mere rationality.
In the field of science and technology, we aim to support individuals and groups conducting research related to science and technology, including fundamental research. In the field of culture and the arts, we focus on artists and researchers engaged in fine arts and music, as well as organizations and individuals involved in promoting fine arts and crafts.
In today's contended Japan, we strongly believe that in the future, values beyond rationality—which can also be called "playfulness"—and the creativity that arises from them will hold significant social meaning.
Nurturing individuals with these qualities will stimulate new demand in the world of science and technology, which will be essential to Japan's future, and contribute to the development of a cultural society. Thus, we have decided to make the seemingly disparate fields of science and art the two pillars of our foundation.
We intend to make every effort to support these areas. There is no greater joy for us than to be of assistance to those filled with a challenging spirit and vision of a better future for Japan.
